Village Progress (VP) is a non-profit organization that connects rural communities to improve upon village conservation, health and education. In partnership with Dali Bar and Salvador’s Coffee House in Kunming, VP runs projects each year to bring volunteer art and health instructors to village schools as well as underprivileged urban migrant schools.
VP works to improve upon education, health care and income levels in rural areas through participatory development programs. By helping villages to coordinate their own projects and by introducing other outside initiatives, VP serves as a catalyst to healthy rural development.
China's rural areas have always been the heart of the country - the breadbasket that feeds China's growth. Their fading influence would only amplify the population and consumption crises China now faces. By working with villagers to fuel grassroots social and economic growth, VP aspires to play a role in the reemergence of China's farming communities.
